Socrative is an educational technology platform and student response system that allows teachers to conduct real-time formative and summative assessments, quizzes, and polls to gauge student understanding. Students use any web-enabled device, such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer, to participate in activities like multiple-choice questions, short answers, and team-based games, with teachers receiving immediate data and reports on student performance.  

Key features and functions: 

Formative Assessment: Teachers can check for understanding on-the-fly with quick pulse checks or exit tickets to see if students are grasping the material.  

Quizzes and Polls: Socrative supports various question types, including multiple-choice, true/false, and short-answer questions, allowing for comprehensive assessments.  

Real-Time Feedback: Teachers get immediate visual feedback and reports on student responses, which helps them adjust their teaching and provide support where needed.  

Space Race: This feature adds a competitive, game-like element, engaging students as they answer questions in a fun and challenging way.

How it works: 

1. Teachers: log in to create and launch activities like quizzes or polls.  
2. Students: join a "room" by entering a unique room name provided by the teacher on their own devices.  
3. Students: respond to questions, which are displayed in real-time to the teacher.  
4. Teachers: can then see results and use the information to monitor progress and guide instruction.
